I was late to altar, so to speak, meaning it took me a long time to settle down and get married. Apparently, my mother no longer remembers that I did. Every time my husband visits with me I introduce him to her, “Mom, this is my husband Rick.” She just stares at him, shakes her head in disbelief and laughs and laughs, “No…ha ha ha..no….”
Have you heard of this product Lumosity? It’s some kind of game that supposed to help your memory. They intentionally leave out a syllable. It’s clearly some derivation of illuminate, right? So it should be LUMINOSITY, so I can never remember the name. Because it makes no sense. WHAT IS LUMOSITY??? That’s not a thing. Not remembering the name is all part of their grand plan to prove to you that you need to buy their product. I have no idea if this is true, but it’s the kind of thing that keeps you up at night when you have a parent with Alzheimer’s.
It doesn’t matter what I look like when I come to visit my mother, from sweatpants and no make-up to a ball gown and stilettos, she always responds the same way, she looks me up and down and asks, “Why does your hair look like that?”
